Study Strategies
Do you forget to do your homework?
- Keep a homework log or calendar.
- Write your assignments in the same place each day.
- Write it on a Post It and stick it in your locker.
- Check the website.
Is your participation grade low?
- Familiarize yourself with the Participation Grading Rubric.
- Stay on track during in-class assignments.
- Make sure you turn in your class work with your name on it.
- Raise your hand to answer questions, even if you aren't certain of the answer.
- Make a good attempt to answer questions if I call on you.
- Ask intelligent questions.
Are vocabulary words tough for you?
- Don't just "look it over". You can look words over for hours and not learn even one.
- Minimize distractions. Turn off the T.V. Hang up the phone. Post an away message.
- Use FLASHCARDS!!! They make it easy for you to isolate one word at a time. Also, the answer isn't visible, so you can't fool yourself into thinking that you know something that needs more of your attention.
- Write them 5 times each. Make sure you spell them correctly.
Do you just feel lost?
- Don't wait! Stay after school for After School Help (ASH).
- Ask me about a Peer Tutor. (These are hard to get sometimes, but I'll try.
