To form a yes/no question:
FORMULA: est-ce que + subject + conjugated verb + ROS (rest of sentence) ?
Est-ce que Marie organise une boum?
Est-ce que vous faites une promenade avec Pierre?
To form an information question:
FORMULA: question word + est-ce que + subject + conjugated verb + ROS ?
Quand est-ce que Marie organise une boum?
Où est-ce que vous faites une promenade avec Pierre?
Answering yes/no questions :
You can answer yes this way:
Oui, Marie organise une boum.
Oui, nous faisons une promenade avec Pierre.
To answer no, make sure you use ne...pas. The verb goes between the ne and the pas. (The ne...pas is the Wonder bread. The verb is the peanut butter and jelly.)
Non, Marie n'organise pas la boum.
Non, nous ne faisons pas une promenade avec Pierre.
Answering Information Questions
When you answer a question with a question word in it, make sure you give an answer that addresses the question word. (If the question word is "where", don't answer "Tuesday".
Marie organise une boum vendredi. (Vendredi answers the question quand.)
Nous faisons une promenade avec Pierre au parc. (Au parc answers the question où.)
