Gram B's Holiday Fruit Cake

Make this one the day after Thanksgiving so it has time to age before Christmas.

Combine (in a saucepan) dates, raisins, butter, brown sugar, molasses and hot water. Boil gently for 3 minutes. Cool in large mixing bowl.

Beat in eggs. Add jar of fruits and peels and nuts.

Sift together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, salt and baking powder. Add gradually to fruit mixture, beating after each addition.

Line a 9 inch tube pan with waxed paper. Pour batter into pan. Bake at 275° for 2 1/2 hours. Remove from pan, and allow to cool completely.

Wrap in aluminum foil, and store in an airtight container. Allow to age for 3 to 4 weeks. Stores for up to 6 weeks.
