Cream the crust ingredients together. Press firmly into a 9 inch pie plate.
Filling
Mix the filling ingredients together. Beat at medium speed for 15 minutes. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
Topping
Strain the can of cherries, reserving the juice.
In a small saucepan, add cornstarch to 1 cup of the cherry juice. Cook until thick. Spread over the top of the pie.
Pit cherries and arrange on top of the pie. Chill.
**Also delicious with canned pineapple in place of the cherries.
